I was thinking today about city names – for no real reason, I suppose, and I was reminded of a few that I visited in 2001 in Cornwall and the South of England in general whose names I really enjoyed.
What prompted cities to have punctuation included in their names?
Did you know that the Senate (as well as student senators such as Michael Cheevers) is responsible for the naming rights associated with the University? There is a motion on the table currently to change the name of the Department of Music; the proposed name evades me now, but I hope that changing the name doesn’t imply staffing changes or new pedagogical approaches to music…
